Disassemble the Piano
December 9, 2009
We moved the piano into my shop last week, and I immediately began disasembly. The lid and other case parts have been removed, and will be stored until it's time to send them to the refinisher.
As each part is removed, it is labeled and measured. Notes are made regarding replacement part selection or repair method.
Often, I will take photographs to help me remember how to put things back together. These are the trap levers, which mount to the underside of the piano, and translate the pedal motion to damper lift, action shift, and sostenuto operation.
Next, all the strings are removed. This is as far as I got last week. Come back soon to see what happens next.
